As well as working closely with you and your loved ones to make sure your Home Care Package is supporting you with the things in life that are most important to you and supporting the special needs of veterans, HomeCare Options also goes the extra mile to cater to the needs of different groups in the community.
Some of the different ways we are seeking to customise your home care services even further, include:
Multicultural home care initiatives
The 2011 Australian Census revealed that more than a 1/4 of Australia’s population was born overseas and that 18% of us speak a language other than English at home. HomeCare Options works in a variety of ways to make sure its care services are responsive to the differing and diverse needs of our multicultural population. We ask you what is meaningful to you and work towards providing extra considerations like:
- translation services as part of your Home Care Package
- cultural pairing of your care or support worker, including language and personality matching where possible
- ongoing cultural awareness training for staff and sharing of cultural resources
- use of multilingual resources such as ‘communication cards’ to help with communication where English is a second language
- connecting clients with local community cultural interest groups, and
- a dedicated diversity and wellness staff member.
Greater access to home care information on our website
The HomeCare Options website has been designed to offer greater accessibility to a wider range of users including people with disabilities, vision or hearing issues, plus a range of cognitive limitation and learning disabilities. The site meets Level A and some aspects of Level AA of world standards (based on the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Most content on the HomeCare Options website is available in an alternative format. For example text content can be read by a web/audio reader. You can read more about these standards here
Additionally, you can use our text size tool (located top right hand side of this website) to make the text on this site larger, as well as translate all pages into your preferred language using the Google Translator tool (please select your preferred language from the top right hand side pull down menu).

HomeCare Options has a dedicated quality management team overseeing the systems and processes that underpin our service delivery. We continuously seek ways to improve our services and invite you to provide your feedback at any point by contacting us and speaking to your case manager. We also seek your feedback through regular surveying and will share any improvements we make in the quarterly client newsletter ‘HomeCare Update’ which goes out to all HomeCare Options clients.
HomeCare Options also undergoes regular audits by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, meeting and exceeding the national Home Care Common Standards
